Belt Construction

Carcass - The carcass of the belt provides structural strength and gives support to the pulling of the load. This consists of multiple plies of rubber impreganated fabric bonded together. The most commonly used fabrics are Nylon-Nylon (NN), Polyester Nylon (EP) and Cotton-Cotton
These are available in the following belt rating/type:
Nylon-Nylon (NN)- NN100, NN125, NN150, NN200, NN250, NN300, NN350, NN400 & NN450 Polyester Nylon(EP)- EP100, EP125,EP150, EP200, EP250, EP300, EP350, EP400 & EP450 Cotton-Cotton – 28Oz, 32OZ, 36OZ, 42Oz, 48Oz and 34Oz for elevator belts.
Belt Construction of carcass is available in the following variants:
  • Straight Ply Construction- This construction consists of plies extending throughout the width of the belt
  • Standard Step Ply Construction- There is a gap in the top plies and this is filled in with additional rubber. This improves transverse flexibility and provides additional rubber thickness at the centre, where the wear is normally most severe
  • Breaker ply Construction- For very severe working conditions where the bond between cover and carcass is of great importance and where the materials fall with great impact, a breaker construction is recommended. The breaker maybe of cotton or nylon and maybe laid flush over the carcass piles or with a cushion layer in between. A breaker maybe laid on the face cover or on the face and back.
Rubber Skim Coat – To Improve bonding between plies and to add flexibility without separation, plies are skim coated with a thin film of rubber layer placed in between the piles with superior quality rubber compounds. It further protects the carcass from impact, damage, moisture ingress etc. resistance to mildew ensures that wet applications will not affect the other components of the belt
Rubber Cover- The rubber used in conveyor belts is made of natural and synthetic rubbers. This is compounded to protect the carcass from the material being conveyed and from any external conditions such as abrasion, heat, fire, oil etc wich could shorten the belts useful life. The following grade of rubber are manufactures for suitable applications: (Link to conveyor belt product page)
Cover thickness- Covers are manufactured to customized specifications. The selection of cover thickness will depend on the loading cybcle and type of material to be handled.
Belt Designation- The three types available are general Duty (GD), Extra Duty (ED) and Heavy Duty (HD)
Type Of Edges- We offer products in cut and moulded (Protected) edges
Breaker Ply- Belts are provided with a breaker ply to withstand extra impact during service. It also protects the carcass from damage by improving the adhesion between the cover and carcass and has high resistance to cutting and goughing
